MC11: Truncation with Library Server and low bitrate MP3
« on: June 09, 2005, 05:37:48 pm »

I've noticed in the last few builds that when a song starts, that the very beginning gets clipped. It's starting maybe 1/4 - 1/2 second into the song.

To keep bandwidth to a minimum, I use "Always convert files" when listening through the library server. Lately I've been using MP3 and a bitrate of 96.

A bit of experimention shows that  the effect is more easily heard with low bitrate MP3's. Set it to 32k and you'll hear it immediately. Even cranked up high to 256k it happens too, but the effect is less dramatic.

The problem doesn't appear to happen with Ogg Vorbis or if no conversion is used.
