 I downloaded a trial version of MC11 a few days ago and before buying it I would like to test it with the Karma.
I read some posts, but no solution: I cannot 'see' the Karma in MC11.  Is 'adding a plugin' disabled in the trial version? ?

I read some other posts that it is possible to make it work, but how.

Can someone (fellow Karma owner?) help me, please?

No plugin is necessary. Is your Karma recognized by Windows Media Player?

The Karma is not recognised by Windows Media Player. It 'sees' a usb device, but no Karma

I won't get the WMDM plugin installed, even worse, I won't get any plugin installed.
I am using an unregistered version 11.0.309 (under Windows XP sp2),  I installed it over a version 10 and left the old library data on the disk.

In the meantime I have tried the same trick (WMDM support, however version 10) on my other PC, and it actually worked: The Karma showed itself in MC10!

So the only problem that remains, I think, is installing the WMDM plugin in MC11: has this something to do with unregistered / registered version?

I do not think WMDM is the problem. If your device was WMDM compatible WMP and MC would recognize it.  Try the following....

Go to Tools->Options->Handheld->Configure remote and fixed drives and browse for your Karma. Name it, and then look for it in the MC tree.

PS there is no WMDM plugin for MC 11, the support is built in.

My apology: I am sorry that I doubted your knowledge, Steve.

By now I have located the problem of not being able to 'see' Rio Karma in MC11. My standard PC shows it both in WMP10 and MC11 

However, it doesn't show on my laptop (Dell Inspirion 8200, USB 1.1, Windows XP SP2), neither in WMP10 nor in MC11.
It does show   in Rio Music Manager 2.61 and in RioRad 8.7.1

I will buy MC11 anyhow, but I would like it to work properly on my laptop, too!

Any suggestions?

Perhaps there is a driver of some kind from Rio that must be installed on the laptop to make it WMDM compatible???

Also, just to confirm, you cannot see the device in the Windows Explorer tree, correct?

The driver that needs to be installed is included in Rio Music Manager. I have installed it so that is ok.

Windows Media Player  has 'native' Karma support, so that is not the problem either, I think. However, it should show the Karma, but it does not. It seems it don't even tries to search the Karma. It simply 'says' no device found.

Try taking it up with Rio.  For Karma, if WMP does not find it, we won't either.
