Reincoding albums in my library?
« on: June 21, 2005, 06:01:35 am »

I have many albums ripped in 128 CBR that I want to reencode at better quality. Are there any shortcuts to replacing the existing files in MC (copy the tag information, etc)?

Unless you are reincoding from lossless, It is not going to work like you think.

You can not make a 128 kb file into a 320 kb file, It will actually end up sounding alot worse.

If the newly ripped files are named the same as the existing ones, you should be able to replace the existing files with the new ones, then just do an 'Update Tags from library'.

At least that is what I have done in the past when going from low rate MP3s to VBR extreme.
