Recording streams via Media Scheduler
« on: June 19, 2005, 09:32:59 am »

I'd like to record from a particular radio station at a particular time each week to get a show that I like.

So I go to Media Scheduler and select to Add Periodic Task.

Action: Start Recording
Start: 10am
Duration: 60 minutes
Recording Source: Mixer
Artist Name: <somethinghere>
Album Name: <somethinghere>

Then I set it up as Custom and to record on Sundays.

That part is fine but something is missing...how can I tell it to record a particular stream at that moment? Without that it will be recording nothing? I suspect I'm missing something real obvious here...?

I do not know if there is a "correct" way of doing this, but here is a workaround:

Schedule a recording event as you did.
Schedule another event, "Start Custom Task", to occur on the same day and same hour, but one minute later. From "Command Shortcuts" select "Play a media file". Replace <PATH_TO_A_MEDIA_FILE> with the URL of your streaming source.

At scheduled time, Media Scheduler will start recording first, but MC will be waiting for sound. One minute later Media Scheduler will start MC for playing from the URL. Recorder will pick up the sound. Make sure you add the extra minute in the Duration field.
