Printing the navigation tree?
« on: June 30, 2005, 09:07:13 pm »

I want to print out a tree-structured list of my music, in a Genre/Artist format.  Is this possible in MC?

- Print File list doesn't do the job.
- Export XLM exports all content and this is isn't viewable/printable directly.
- Doing a Print-Screen over and over for the entire tree within MC and pasting to Windows Paint and then printing seems the ultimate kluge.

All I want to do is print something like this:

Blues
    - Little Walter
    - Muddy Waters
    - etc
Cuban
    - Buena Vista Social Club
    - etc
Etc.

I'll offer a workaround suggestion, and maybe JimH or somebody else equally knowledgeable will drop in and offer the correct answer to your question.

What I did, was to order my list within MC according to genre, artist, etc, then select the entire list and copy it into excel.  Within excel you still have all the columns, which is not what you want, but it takes about 10 seconds to delete off the ones you don't want.  Then you can format and arrange the data as you please, and even parse it further using filters MC (gasp!) doesn't have.  Of course, excel won't produce any sounds worth listening to, so MC's place is still secure at the top.
