OT- Wedding Music
« on: June 27, 2005, 09:59:00 am »

Though I have titles like:
'Sing A Song For The Communist Party' from 'The Red Sun' by 'PLA Chorus'
and the ever popular
'Red Army Misses Chairman Mao' from 'The Red Sun' by 'PLA Chorus'

I am looking for suggestions for a wedding party playlist.

Give me your favorite 1 or 2 please!

Thanks!
Here's two I think are great for wedding parties:

'I Just Want to Be Your Everything' from 'Flowing Rivers' by 'Andy Gibb'
'Longer' from 'Greatest Hits' by 'Dan Fogelberg'

Well, I must admit that in your situation it's pretty hard to avoid Iggy Pop and China Girl, right? And on a serious note the best I could think of is from the end of Shrek - Hallelujah, which Rufus Wainwright sings sooo much better than Leonard Cohen's "jazz rap".

You obviously haven't heard Jeff Buckley's version.

Here's a couple of suggestions:

'The Wedding March' from 'Flash Gordon' by 'Queen'  (56 s)
- a nice electric guitar version of the wedding march, short.

'Dracula’s Wedding' from 'Speakerboxxx/The Love Below' by 'Outcast (featuring Kelis)'  (2 min 34 s)
- great humorous wedding song.
Quote
[Dracula]
You're all i've ever wanted, but i'm terrified of you
My castle may be haunted, but i'm terrified of you
I've cast my spell on millions, but i'm terrified of you
Baby i do this from the ceiling, but i'm terrified of you

I wait my whole life to bite the right one
Then you come along and that freaks me out
So i'm frightened..(oh!).....Dracula's wedding

I've never ran from no one, but i'm terrified of you
See my heartbeat is a slow one, but i'm terrified of you
I've been around for ages, but i'm terrified of you
Put my fang across the stage, but yet i'm terrified of you

I wait my whole life to bite the right one
Then you come along and that freaks me out
So i'm frightened..(oh!).....Dracula's wedding

You know i'm terrified
You know i'm terrified
You know i'm terrified

[Bride]
Give me a chance to dance romance
Don't run, I'm not the sun
So much at stake...... oh! bad choice of words
But i'm not the gun, with silver bullets
And i can count (1 2 3), plus i make great peanut butter
And jelly sandwiches.... Van Helsing

For richer or poorer, through sickness and in health,
Till death do us part, till death do us part
You only live once, well not in our case, cause we will live
forever

Congratulations on your wedding!

Rod Stewart does a great version of this ;D ;D :P

People were standing, all around
At a shot gun wedding, here in this town
And I'm a victim oh yea
of a shotgun wedding
Cause your fathers got a gun
and there ain't no place to run
Shotgun wedding and oh listen to me

Well I got to find a job
You, me, baby makes three
Shotgun, shotgun, shotgun, wedding oh yea
Cause your fathers got a gun
and there ain't no place to run
Shotgun wedding
And all I could hear that day was
Do you take this woman
to be your lawful wedded wife
my my my my shotgun, shotgun, shotgun, shotgun wedding
I looked around
I looked around
and all I could see was a shotgun wedding....listen

But I tried to run from town
but her mother tracked me down
She said before I meet my maker,
some mans gonna make an honest woman of my daughter
so it might as well be you
Oh daddy may be poor
but he owns a forty forty
Shotgun wedding
and oh I'm walking up the aisle right now

Here comes the bride singing
Shotgun, shotgun, shotgun, shotgun, shotgun.....yea yeaaaa
I could of run away oh no I could be living high
Nobody could stop me now oh shotgun, shotgun
Just give me one more chance
Let me hear that bass boys that bass boys
breaking my heart
breaking my heart
breaking my heart........

I played this At My Wedding

'Don't Fear the Reaper' Charted At 12 in 1976

Listening to: 'Don't Fear the Reaper' from 'Agents of Fortune' by 'Blue Oyster Cult' on Media Center 11

A Love Song? I Think So...

All our times have come
Here but now they're gone
Seasons

Don't fear the reaper
Nor do the wind, the sun or the rain
We can be like they are

Come on baby. . .
Don't fear the Reaper
Baby take my hand. . .
Don't fear the Reaper

We'll be able to fly. . .
Don't fear the Reaper
Baby I'm your man. . .
Valentine is done
Here but now they're gone
Romeo and Juliet Are together in eternity. . .
Romeo and Juliet 40,000 men and
women everyday. . .
Like Romeo and Juliet
40,000 men and women everyday. . .
Redefine happiness
Another 40,000 coming everyday. . .

We can be like they are
Come on baby. . . Don't fear the Reaper
Baby take my hand. . .

Don't fear the Reaper
We'll be able to fly. . .
Don't fear the Reaper
Baby I'm your man. . .

Love of two is one Here but now they're gone
Came the last night of sadness
And it was clear she couldn't go on
Then the door was open and the wind appeared
The candles blew and then disappeared
The curtains flew and then he appeared
Saying don't be afraid
Come on baby. . .
And she had no fear
And she ran to him. . .

Then they started to fly
They looked backward and said goodbye
She had become like they are
She had taken his hand
She had become like they are
Come on baby. . .
don't fear the reaper

Here's an excellent reference site for wedding music:

My favorite, which is pretty tame in comparison to the suggestions you've already received is "More!!!: The Theme from Mondo Cane"  which has been performed by at least a 1000 artists.

I was listening to my mp3 player as I was going to sleep last night.  (With earphones in my ears to drown out my husbands snoring.  A real romantic picture, isn't it?  That's what happens after 29 years of marriage!  ;D)  Anyway, I heard a song that I'd never played before, and your request came immediately to my mind.  It's "Love of My Life" by Jim Brickman and is performed by various artists on his "Destiny", "My Romance," and "My Romance: an Evening with Jim Brickman" cd's.  From a female perspective, I think this would be a gorgoeus song for a first dance.  The melody is beautiful, as are the words.  Here's the lyrics:

I am amazed
When I look at you
I see you smiling back at me
It's like all my dreams come true

I am afraid
If I lost you girl
I'd fall through the cracks
And lose me track in this crazy lonely world

Sometimes it's so hard to believe
When the nights can be so long
And gave me the strength
And kept me holding on

Chorus
You are the love of my life
And I'm so glad you found me
You are the love of my life
Baby put your arms around me
I guess this is how it feels
When you finally find something real
My angel in the night
You are my love
The love of my life

Now here you are
With midnight closing in
You take my hand as our shadows dance
With moonlite on you skin

I look in your eyes
I'm lost inside your kiss
I think if I'd never met you
About all the things i'd missed

Sometimes it's so hard to believe
When a love can be so strong
And faith gave me the strength
And kept me holding on

You are the love of my life
And I'm so glad you found me
You are the love of my life
Baby put your arms around me
I guess this is how it feels
When you finally find something real
My angel in the night
You are my love
The love of my life
