buffer overrun

Hello, it has been a long time since I have been here. I have been using MC9 but used the downloader just today and the internet clip video failed to download and since then MC starts with a C++ buffer overrun error message, if I ignor and dont close the error window I can use MC9 but if I close the error window it shuts MC down.

I cant insert a gif of my desktop but can email it if it is needed for review.

go to "help" in MC and there is an option there for system info, you can paste that into your next message.

Hi ZipperHead.  You may need to uninstall, reboot, then reinstall.

MC 11 (towards the top of this board) may also be worth a look.

My bag, I didnt say hello to you Sparta and Mat. 

I tried the uninstall reboot 2 times and then reinstall.

I even tried by going through the registry and removed anything  pertaining to MC9. It started when I used the downloader, I havent used it in about 2 years and MC9 was fine till I used the downloader today. I dont know if the downloader has a hidden file on the HD or if the web Vid clip may have had something, My system is running full time norton protection, it would have caught any bad bugs. I am lost, after the accident 2+ years ago I dont have the memory retention of past skills and experience.

Ran deep scans of anti virus and norton windoctor last night and no issues found. ran addaware and spybot and found also no issues. someway there was a glich with the downloader. I guess I have no choice but to format and reload my syst. bad side is all the stuff I got is going to take 15 to 20 dvd's to back up my files and programs. ouch..

I've been noticing  Buffer overruns consistently in MC 11.  I've noticed it on recent releases, but have not kept track of which ones.  It seems to happen when the program is idle.  For example, it happened last night when MC was running.  Nothing was playing and I did have the Library server running.  Looking at the library server log, I notice something suspicious that happened this morning.

07/08/05 07:33:32 - Received request for a file: //www.163.com/
07/08/05 07:33:32 - Error sharing file, file type not supported

I wonder if this is what caused the error.  Is this an attack?

I'm on version 304 right now.
