To KingSparta, relating to the import plugin...
« on: August 10, 2005, 04:20:31 pm »

Thanks for making the auto import plugin, It works great. One feature I would like to request, is for the option to have it check for new media at MC startup, as opposed to having it check at a certain time, or after a certain interval. I have it set right now to check every 10 seconds. This works fine, but the event list gets pretty big :>) As a photographer, I will use my photo editors to save my work into my photo folders. When I startup MC, it would only need to look once to find the new files, since I would not be adding my images while MC is running. Regardless, this is a VERY helpful utility for MS. Thanks again.

I can't seem to get the plugin to work. I loaded it and set the folder. But when I put files into it, they don't show up in the library. Does it take a few minutes, or do they show up right away??

hard to tell with the limited information you gave.

it works for others.

what folder?

what files?

what type of file?

is it in the extender list?

is the timer set?

Is the timer enabled?

Got a few pictures?

What about the ability to import from subfolders? Could that be in the next version too? As it is, I can't use this plug-in because it can't scan newly created subfolders.

They're .ape files, and yes, I have them set in the extension box. I do have the timer and set and enabled....

I guess I was under the impression that the plug-in imports files as soon as they are put into a listed folder. Or does it only import per the timer?

I read most of a long thread that suggested the former, but I think the discussion related to an earlier version of the program.

In any case, thanks.

ah, yes

you would not want it to check every second, because it will take your cpu time up.

I added import On start up of Media Center

it has a 5 second delay

This will give Media Center Time To Load Up And Do Other Things if it is still doing something when it turns on the plug-ins.

when it starts Auto Import it turns on a timer, then counts to 5 then imports once. if this option is turned on.

King, thank you much for adding this feature, and doing it so quickly.  I feel it adds a lot to MC by keeping the library updated.
