How come MS media player recognizes
« on: October 02, 2002, 03:40:37 am »

A cd's track names and media jukebox (with YADB) doesn't?
Can I export the cd info from MS media player and load it in MJ?

Most of the players using YADB-cddb -FreeDB and others put the cdinfos you got from one of this data in a folder "cdplayer.ini"

When infos about a cd in this folder,as soon as you put a cd in any player, the infos pop-up from the folder"cdplayer.ini'

But look like Windows Mediaplayer does not put the infos in this folder.I do not know where the infos are.
If you know where they are,you can import it to 'cdplayer.ini' and get the infos when putting the cd in MJ.

SO anyone knows where Windows MediaPlayer puts the cd infos?

Unless windows media player has changed significantly from the last version in this respect, and I doubt it has, it does not store info to cdplaer.ini but to an encrypted data file which cannot be accessed by anything else.  I found this out once after wasting time adding all my CD info to WMP and then trying to back it up...

PS How can we help with the YADB data?  Is there anything I can do in terms of checking or adding new info??

Adding new infos would be nice.
If you see one of your cd is not in YADB data you can upload it.

Many ways:using 'properties' you type all the indications.
A pain in the .....,i agree.

If you use MJ since more than few weeks, means if you had registered to cdbb throught MJ,there is an easy way:
Set MJ to  YADB,if you do not get info, set MJ to cdbb
If you get the infos from cddb, set back MJ to Yadb and upload the infos
