MPL Export Playlist not compatible?
« on: June 04, 2003, 05:26:05 am »

I would like to save my Playlist mixes in a format that other jukebox players will play back, and to serve as a backup. However, I am finding that the standard .m3u format (Export Playlist > Format > M3U) does not accomplish this and am greeted with a message "Please select files(s) to play." I am, however, able to achieve this by exporting in MPL format, though other jukebox programs such as RealOne and WMP are unable to recognize MPL! Please advise what to do, thanks.

MPL is a JRiver only format for now.  It's nice though because it's XML and contains all the information about the tracks in the list.

However, M3U is more limited but it should work everywhere.

You should be able to select some files and then have MJ build the .M3U.  Take note of the "All Files" vs. "Selected Files" option.

I just tried, and it looks like it's working for me. (I'm using MC 9 instead of MJ 8 though)

What commands are you using and from what source menu? My procedure is as follows: click on desired playlist to save > File Menu > Export Playlist > MPL selected under "Format" with Output Range set at "All." This works, though the file is not compatible with other players. If M3U is selected, however, I wind up with an empty document. I am unable to re-create your process. Please advise, thanks.
