Hello... I have had my Ipod for awhile, but have never used MC with it.
Well, I thought I would try the new features in MC so I gave it a whirl.

1.  Connected Ipod, started MC
2.  MC Asked it I wanted to Ipod...  Yes
3.  The transfer option box came up, I selected transfer manually and hit Ok
4.  MC Froze...... 4 or 5 min later I got a Microsoft Visual C+ RunTime error in MC
MC Crashed.

5.  Restarted MC
6.  MC Hung and in a few min crashed again.

Any idea's what I am doing wrong?

I just deleted ITunes.db...

I am rebuilding the Ipod in MC.... How long should this take? The status bar in the Rebuild Progress box hasn't budged. (It's been about 5-10 min)

It sounds like we're not doing a good job of loading what is on your iPod.

Wiping it clean and starting over might help.

Let us know what you find.

Thanks Matt.... I refomatted the Ipod and then MC worked.

Questions,

1.  Soundcheck - I have all my music analyzed, Do I enable the , Apply Replay Gain or Adjust all file volumes...
I notice there is a +- selelctor, Is this something that is automatic?

2.  Just curious, How come you can not view the Ipod files with the Panes, Like you can the Library?

Thanks for the help.

Do not enable this. Eventually you will be able to overlay this setting on top of the Replay Gain setting from MC, but this is not currently enabled.

What software were you using that caused MC grief?  Can you reproduce it?  We'd really like to lick that problem.

Hey Matt,

Here is what I had done,

With ITunes, Transfered 10K tracks with Soundcheck enabled, and Cover Art turned on.
Played around with Anapod Explorer, After this to go From Music, Into Artist took around 10 seconds, then another 10 seconds to get into album,
I think the DB may have gotten corupt, Anapod changes some of the files I think,

With 11.1.42 or 43, I hooked Ipod upto MC,
Since I think the DB was corrupt already everything just kinda shut down.

I deleted the ITunes.db file on the Pod, Now MC could detect the Pod, Asked me If I wanted to Sync or transfer manually, Selected transfer manually, and the MC box that scans the Ipod just hung, Killed the app after 10 min of nothing.

Hooked Ipod back upto Anapod, Ands used recover missing tracks, Hooked MC back up and it again hung. Now the Ipod really was loading slow, (switching from Artist to album),  Reformated the Pod, Hooked it back up to MC and all works.

There was a gap of about week and a half from loading the Ipod to trying this. I had some system issues that were corrected Once I got rid of Itunes and QT.

Are you brave enough to try a simple test with less files to see if you can reproduce the problem?

Ok, I reinstalled Itunes...

I have played around for close to 5 hours on this today. I have NOT been able to reproduce the hang up that I reported. I am using the latest build 1.45, when I had the crash I was on 1.43. Maybe something was inadvertinaly fixed?

None the less, Here is what I did for testing today.

Transfered 2800 tracks using Itunes,                 (whatched the new Motley Crue DVD carnival of Souls)
When that was done, (Transfering, not the DVD) I opened Anapod, and Navigated and transfered some tracks, About 20 min worth.
Opened MC, and MC automatically recognized the Pod, and all the tracks...

Thought to myself ....   **Thought**   This pod was already running on MC, before transfering with Itunes.... Hmmm
Restored Ipod with Updater... By By tracks.

Hooked pod back upto Itunes, and transfered 4082 tracks... (whatched more of the new Motley Crue DVD carnival of Souls)
Connected Anapod and transfered a few, ran the cover art updater played etc...
Hooked MC up, to see it Crash,  But WAIT it DIDN'T!!

Hmmm,,, Nothing else I can figure out..... Then I sat down and wrote this post.

Observations with MC,

**When you eject the Ipod, it takes you to the Start Page of MC, Can we have the option to have it default back to the Last view, or the Library?
**The Recognize and Eject is much faster on MC then with Itunes, and Anapod.
**It's really cool, that I can set up a Smartlist and have the iPod sync to that, I have a 60 gig iPod and over 60 Gigs of mp3's....

Well, I couldn't reproduct the crash, so does this mean that this won't get done? Does the effort count?    :'(    8)    ;D

Well, I am off to reformat the Ipod and Use MC with Soundcheck to upload them..... Oh wait.... How do I enable soundcheck on MC??

No need to enable soundcheck. On iPod, when you sync from MC  that field wil be populated by the replay gain value. Turn off the volume adjustment before you transfer and then when you enable soundcheck on iPod the correct values should be applied.

Ok.... I think I got everything straight...

Only problem, If I transfer a few albums, all is ok.
Twice I have used Sync to transfer my Library based on a Smartlist. (Which is great to be able to do)
It shows the tracks transfering (By the way, when it get to the last track that is displayed on the screen, it doesn't scroll down.) And it says 180 min remaining, This should read 3:01 I think that would be better...

Be the end result, It shows all the tracks in MC as being transfered, and on the Ipod it shows the Harddrive space a used, but you click on Album, there's nothing.,.... You click on all music and there's nothing....  Maybe MC has problems transfering large # of tracks? I tried 8,000

There are no corrupt tracks, as Anapod and ITunes tranfers them fine.

If you then do a 'Rebuild database from iPod' do the tracks show up?

It sounds like for some reason the iPod database file is corrupted or bad. We will have to dig deeper  to find out what is going on.  Others are not currently reporting this behavior.

1st time, I used Apple's updater.
Then transfered with MC

2nd time, I used Apple's updater then ran Initialize with MC.

It worked the second time.

Thanks. Apple's updater no longer creates a default 'iTunesDB' file which is the root of this evil. The problem is fixed and will be included in a future build.

Thanks.

I noticed that when I resync, it show me all the files, Not just the ones it's syncing.
Also, can you enable the screen to scroll, so you know were in the list it's syncing.

Thanks
