Field should I use for compatibility / persistence?
« on: October 22, 2005, 04:16:56 pm »

I've noticed that MC doesn't allow one to tag multiple genres per song, unlike WMP10 :( and I can't change the preset for Genre.  This is quite a bummer, since I've tagged a bunch of my songs pop; french or whatnot.  But I'm guessing this is since some related spec doesn't support multi-genres, eh?

Anyway, I'd like to tag my songs in MC with multiple genres... and am trying to figure out the best way to do this so such tagging will be included within the files themselves (hence, facilitating portability... e.g., when I send the file to a friend, they can read the same tags I've added).

Any suggestions as to what field I should use that'll automatically be placed within the file AND support multiple keywords within that one field?

Thanks!

Same for me. Media center is a good program on the whole, but why this feature is not implemented (despite some user requests i came across) I just do not understand at all. For me it is a basic feature. The same is true for the interprets of a song. Sometimes two artists perform songs together. I would like to record this as well.
Actually, this is the reason why I did not buy media center yet... I am still hoping for some kind of wonder...

It was mentioned recently that if you tag it like
"Genre1/Genre2"
then the search will find it under Genre1 and Genre2
