How did it go with Artist Top 10? I can't get limit to work...
« on: November 07, 2005, 06:29:15 pm »

Hi!

In a previous diiscussion I talked to brainsoup about creating a Top 10 smartlist. This went fine and brainsoup said he/she was going to create a View Scheme based on it.

Now I got to think that I also wanted such scheme, so I began today.
Showing Artists only in the top (Step 1), adding "~sort=[Rating]-d,[Number Plays]-d ~nodup=[Name] ~n=10" to Step 4.

But the limit doesn't work as I would. Now I only got 10 songs all in all, but I want 10 files displayed depending on what artist(s) I choose in the top... Anyone knows what's wrong?

Marty,

Great playlist/view screen.  I added it as soon as I saw your post.  Since you are not specifying the artist directly in a view scheme, it is only selecting your top 10 overall songs.  Instead of using "~n=10" I used ~limit=-1,10,[Artist] to get the same results.  Hope this helps.  Dan

Thanks, I almost got it together now!

One thing though (satisfaction is for wimps you know!): Could it be possible to always limit this to 10 or whatever songs? If one selects two or more artists, the output is 10/artist, not 10 of the selected artists.

It's not that important, but it would be cool :)
