Assorted Albums Problems
« on: November 06, 2005, 09:12:16 am »

Using the tool 'rename files from properties'
I get an option called
'Use Assorted  for Artist on multi-artist albums'

However when looking at the file location options under
the options menu item I do not get the same option,
yet I'm sure i've seen it elsewhere before?

Secondly
If I take a multi artist album which has not had this phantom option turned on during encoding
so the files are located in directorys as follows
F:\media\audio\[Artist]\[Album]
with many different artists
I select the album and then do the 'rename files from properties'
tool with the 'Use Assorted  for Artist on multi-artist albums'
it doesn't actually work.  The folders stay the same and are not
put in the 'assorted' directory.

Current version of Media Center 11.1.47

For MC's logic to decide the album is 'muulti-artist', all the tracks must be in the same directory and have identical album names. This obviously does not help you.

You can however, force the issue with one extra step prior to renaming from properties...

List the offending album in MC, then using the tag info panel in the action window, set the [album artist] field to (Multiple Artists)
Now when you use the rename from properties, you should see the desired results.
