Performance - Many small vs. one big
« on: November 11, 2005, 01:51:59 pm »

Does it matter to the speed of MC, if all files imported to MC stored in one folder without any subfolder?

I came to that question, because in all folderlists/filelists (in- and outside MC) ist takes quiet a long time to display that folder. That there must be a longer time to display all the files in it, I understand, but only displaying the folder takes... ca 15 Seconds.
So I'm thinking about to make a view subfolder to speed up MC. May I get an effect?

I don't think it will speed MC up, MC would run off the library,
I think it only slows down windows explorer because it has to show the attributes of all the files...
