I posted this a couple of weeks ago, but was told to start a new thread.  It's regarding converting music files for transfer to a handheld music player.

I have a few different audio file types and definitely a variety of bit rates on my computer.  Most of my catalog is in either WMA lossless for archiving my CDs, and WMA/DRM files at 192kbps, but I also have mp3's at a variety of bit rates.

What I would love to see with the "convert if necessary" function is for it to be able to (if set at WMA 192 for example) reduce my WMA lossless files (Windows media player is already able to do this) and large size mp3, ogg etc., but leave alone any file that's smaller.  For example, I would not want a 128k mp3 file converted to a 192k WMA file.  But I would want to take a WMA Lossless and convert it to WMA 192.

Yes....that would make me happy!

ps.  just went back and checked.  Even set as always convert, it still won't modify the WMA lossless to the WMA at 192.  frustrating.  So far this is about the only feature keeping me from completely switching from Media Player to Media Center.

Please try tonight's build.  We think it will, in your words, "make you happy!" ;)

Wow!  A software company that listens to it's users AND implements their suggestions?!?  I'm impressed!

That must mean either hell has finally frozen over, or pigs really do fly!

Hmm - so now I think it does do the conversion from WMA lossless to normal WMA, but I can't really try it because I've set up my player to sync 80 songs (to a 512 mb player) but it's counting the lossless file size in computing whether or not it will fit instead of the projected compressed file size...  Any ideas?

P.S. On second thought, would it be possible to tell it to sync a playlist and try to get as much to fit (in order) as possible?  It'd be nice not to have to make a copy of the "top hits" playlist with approximately as many songs can fit on the player...

Fixed next build.  Thanks for the heads up.
