Hello and goodbye to all,
13 years ago I had just moved to the twin cities with my then new wife. I did not have a place to live or a job. We were young and naive and in hindsight pretty stupid to make such a leap. I was (and am) a professional tuba player and was looking for an apartment where I could practice. The one place that did not take issue with me was one in which the landlord was a musician in the Duluth Symphony. We rented the place and subsequently he notified me that the one tuba position in the orchestra which had been filled for 16 years was coming available. I auditioned and won the position. In the meantime, I needed some work and answered an ad to 'Come work in a rathole'. Thus began my work with JRiver.
I am departing now to go to school fulltime at Luther Seminary and to work part time as the coordinator of 'Daily Work' which is a program dedicated to placing unemployed and underemployed people in living wage employment. Change is scary and exciting and this move is no exception. The departure from JRiver is amicable and I wish this place only the best as it moves into the adventure of the new year.
I will look back on my time at JRiver with fond memories of the people that I have had the chance to know. I am grateful for those memories as I have been shaped as a person as a result of those relationships. JRiver has been a good 'rathole' to hang my hat for many years and I wish all who are connected with it as employers, employees and customers the best in the coming years.
Best wishes to all.
Steve
