MC11.1 Persistant selection anomaly
« on: January 19, 2006, 12:04:15 pm »

I'm not sure if this is intended, but the new 'Locate' functionality is creating the following anomaly:

When I 'Locate > Album', the top panes are filled with the filtered entries pertinent to that album, and the top-most entry in each pane is highlighted. Now, when I delete the album search from the search bar, the top panes are repopulated with all the information, but the highlighted selections from the search persist.

Normally I would expect the removal of a search entry to return me to a selection-free view; the current behaviour means that until you take another action, removing a search entry has practically no effect.

I mentioned this away back in November,
http://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php?topic=30241.0
but it didn't seem to bother anyone else.

Personally, I see it as a bug, but have never received any confirmation as to whether or not this behaviour is by design. If I filter a list down, either by using the search bar or panes, then either remove the search string or select "all" in a pane, I expect the selection to be reset too, it bugs me when I find that hasn't happened.

It's a bug.  Hopefully in tonight's build...

Also, we're revamping Locate to work more like the old system.
