I have a view scheme:
[Artist]=[South Park] ~sort=[Name]
nested under that (with 'Honor parent scheme search strings' checked), I have a viewscheme with just:
~sort=[Random]

Normally the way things like this work is that a nested viewscheme would inherit all of its parent's search strings, but would override the parent's with its own if they conflicted. Could the behaviour be changed to do this?

There's a setting in Edit View Schemes called Honour Parent Scheme Search Strings which controls this.

It toggles between the 2 scenarios you described...
