Wave to MP3 conversion
« on: December 30, 2005, 11:19:48 pm »

I prefer to RIP to wave and then convert to MP3 to maximize RIP speed - I normally batch convert with a smart list later.

Is there any way to avoid Media Center's copying of the wav to the temp location before converting to mp3? Why doesn't it convert directly from the original location?

Change your ripping settings to uncompressed wave and change your file location settings to where you want the rips to be.

I don't think you understood the problem. That is how I have my settings.

After ripping, I batch convert to VBR MP3 using External Encoder (I wish MC would stop launching lame in the foreground!!!).

When I do this, MC copies the wave file to a temp location, converts to mp3, deletes temp wave file and original wave file. If source format is wave, and delete original is selected, MC should just feed original wave file to Lame and then delete original wave file and save me a many megabytes of worthless copying to my temp drive.
