Problems with iPod Photo Slideshow TV Output
« on: January 17, 2006, 10:15:19 pm »

I have been unable to get my photos to output to the tv.  I am currently using build 101.  I have about 4000 pictures all with album tags grouping them into about 30 different categories.  For each of the last few builds, I have deleted all of the photos from the iPod and resynced them back on.  But when I hook it up to the TV, the slideshow displays a picture and then it freezes.  If you look at the ipod, you can see the pictures changing, but nothing happens on the tv.  Everytime I try to play a slideshow, the same picture is sent frozen to the TV, even if I try to run a slideshow from an album that doesn't even have that picture.

So I deleted the picture that was getting frozen, and resynced a couple of albums to test them.  When I tried to run those newly synced albums on the tv, they seemed to work fine.  But when I tried to run the slideshow from the general photo library on the ipod...the same problem happened.  I got a frozen picture.  The weird thing about it is that the picture was the same picture that froze before and that I deleted from the iPod.

So I checked it on the computer again.  That picture was gone, but it still shows up as the frozen picture on the tv everytime i try to output a slideshow.

I really didnt want to initialize the whole ipod, so this time I deleted all the pictures, went into the ipod through windows explorer and deleted the photo database file.

I then resynced about 100 pictures sorted in a couple of albums.  When I tried it on the tv everything worked great...so I thought I was set.  I synced the rest of my 4000 pictures back to the iPod (except the one that was originally freezing the ipod).  When it was done, i tried it again.

Same problem.  This time i got a completely different picture that would be put up on the screen and freeze.  It would not work in the full photo library or within a specific album.  That same photo would come up and get stuck.

Another thing I notices was when i did have it working, the pictures on the tv did not come up in the same order that they were coming up on the ipod (the ipod scrolls through each picture showing you the last picture, the current picture, and the next picture in the slideshow.  They were not even close to being in sync.

Any help would be great.  I am so excited about all of the great new iPod functionality in 11.1.  Thanks for such a great product.

Is this a bug, or am I doing something wrong?

What type of iPod are you using? (photo, video, 5g, etc.)

We'll do some testing with large numbers of photos on that generation.

Thanks.
