simple logging on media center
« on: March 14, 2006, 03:22:46 am »

Hello people,

I want to do a user test with a media center pc and I am curious whether there is a relatively simple way to create (or access) logging data on the media center pc.

The information i want to get is about the usage patterns of the device. I am not very aware about the structure of the media center pc, but i assume that there is an application that bring access to all the functionalities like live tv, movies etc.

Do you know if this application already keeps any kind of logs?
Do you know if i could program an application that captures what is happening on this application?

If someone has experience, he could help a lot,

MC provides debug logging but as far as I know no
usage logging.  You may be able to obtain the information
you require from the debug logs.

MC also keeps track of the number of times you've played
each track and the last time it was played.
It can create smart lists which show the tracks etc which have been
played in the last week, month etc (it's configurable).

MC allows you to play TV/Video/Audio and so on...
