MC 11.1 ignores zone settings for m4p
« on: January 30, 2006, 04:58:22 pm »

I have two soundcards, one internal and one external, and I have three zones to help me use these cards:
  • One Internal zone, pointing at the internal card
  • One External zone,  pointing at the external card
  • One automatic zone, pointing at the primary sound driver

All the zones use Direct Sound (maybe obvious).

The external sound card is defined as primary device in Windows.

When I play a m4p track in the internal zone, the zone settings are just ignored and the music goes to the external sound card. Is this an inevitable consequence of the forced interaction with QuickTime due to DRM handling, or is it a problem that can be solved?

Since it is played by Quicktime, I do not think we can choose where the output goes.

Thank you for the answer, Yaobing!

For me, this is yet another reason to whish for a DRM handling that would allow MC to play m4p natively.
