Hello!

Ipod: 2nd Gen (same version that crashed MC in november/december MC versions)
Firewire interface.
It was working well on XP, but then I had to downgrade to win 2000 SP4, and reinstalled MC.

Installed Itunes and synching works, uninstalled Itunes, installed MC 11.1.21
It won't recognize the ipod (but w2k recognize it as a hard drive and it is accessible through explorer).

Reset Ipod, did a restore with Ipod updater 2006-01-10

Still wont recognize Ipod

Have done "Redetect Devices" after every startup with MC11:
Here are the last lines in the debug log:

Can you see the iPod in Windows Explorer?

Does it have a iPod_Control\Device\SysInfo file? (it'll be hidden, so tell Windows to show hidden files)

You should see this for each device:

Found device
Gathering device information
etc.

Something isn't working with your WMDM subsystem.

It's failing when we try to create the first WMDM piece.

Have you disabled any Windows services?  Could you try Windows update, including updating your WMP version.

Also, you could try running this by hand:

Oooh, thanks that might be it. I haven't updated the Media Player at all from install.

Installing WMP9 now & will give it a whirl.

Eureka! It works.
I installed wmp9 + security updates and it was detected right away.
