Smartlist problem (BPM & Intensity)
« on: February 19, 2006, 07:22:49 am »

I have tried to make smartlists with easy listening downbeat list of electronica etc. All my music is tagged perfectly with Tag&rename by the way.

But when I use options like BPM and Intensity it makes NO difference. For instance: I have tried with BPM<=700, and then BPM<=7 and again NO difference in the numer of songs in the playlist. Exactly the same problem with Intensity. Tough I use alot smaller numers. And offcourse I have exited the smartlist to save it...

So my question is if this is a problem in MC 11.1121 or if there is something I do wrong? I have to analyze the music, or get some more information for my tags or something?

Help, Heeelp is appreciated  :)

This is really strange. I have tried everything from 0 to 1000 in BPM and it don't do mather either way. Just the same thing with with Intensity. Everything I got a tag for works like a charm thou.

This should work without any modding of files/tags or any other settings right?

For that matter, what exactly is 'intensity'? BPM is something you can measure, but how is intensity measured?

I can't say for sure. But I think that MC tries to mesure the beats in the songs first (thouh it seems like it often get the middle beats too, so the bpm gets too high :().Then it sets the intensity level based on how much "music" there is between the beats.
Not sure about the "first" and "last" bit. Probably done reasonably simultainiously.

To another question: Is there other tags that could be usefull for "smart" smartlists? I have looked at "tempo", but I have not gotten a good explenation on that one yet. Nor a tool to to get the numers if there is one...

Cheers mates!
