Library view Radical new suggestion!
« on: February 20, 2006, 09:15:20 pm »

Ok, so, beware of people that use the word radical. Often not radical at all, or just attention seeking. But on with the suggestion...

How about:
The current drop down menu at the top left. Get rid of it. Who needs it if you've always got breadcrumbs to get you back to the top level.]

Instead, rip the "view" and "play" off of the tiles (giving space for other info) and put them in the top bar, maybe as buttons as they used to be (ie. a button for "genre" "album" "artist" etc.), only this time, they only filter selected tiles or all if none are selected.

Then, make the bottom list view tiles! (kind of), but tiles which only have a drop down choice of "album thumbnails", "songs", or "song thumbnails"  :D

Oh and then just to thank me for the ingenius idea (and all the extra work I've given you  ;)) you can append a little "Sort list view by" menu item to the "options" in the top right hand corner.

What do you think???

I really like the drop down menus.

I'd rather have double-click into Tiles instead of play on double click since we have the play button.

Other info could and should be displayed in the bottom info bar (like the title of the album slected etc.) due to truncated names in Tiles.

I use the drop down menu to navigate through my View Schemes w/ the tree minimized constantly, I love it (that's why I suggested it).

And more tiles at the bottom instead of the file info fields......radical? You weren't kidding  :P
