the fact:
ogg songs with album art inside the file (tagged using MC11.1) are not played neither by an Iriver player nor a Samsung player.

the request:
an option to remove automatically album art from the files during the transfert to the handheld.

the question:
is MC tagging correctly ogg files in case of album art ?

Have you posted this to the bug thread (after testing the new version) ?

Something is funky with Ogg's and the MC encoder.

I don't think it is a bug. But I think there are not only Ipod users so JRiver could do something for "ogg + others players" users...

MC 11.1.127   9. Fixed: OGG tags could have an extraneous external image file field saved.

Could this fix be related to my problem (see the first post of the thread) ?

I reply to myself: I just tried to download a fresh retagged ogg file (using MC 11.1.127) and the "problem" remains the same, the player cannot play the file :'(. The same file without album art is played without problem.

So, I beg with knees JRiver to provide this option I asked in the first post of the thread :P.

You could not use internal cover art with your OGG files since the handheld doesn't support it.  MC makes it easy to switch storage methods.

If you're converting on the fly, you could choose MP3 instead.

It's tricky to add an option like "remove certain tag fields" on upload because they're so specialized.  If a hardware player doesn't understand a tag field, it should simply skip it.

We're also open to other suggestions.

Thanks.

I don't do it because we have two handhelds (PDA and smartphone) which display cover art if it is inside the file. But it is the solution I will have to use if nothing else is possible.:'(

I don't need to convert my files since all my handhelds play ogg files. So converting on the fly only to solve this issue would be a pity (much more time to transfer files and loss of quality).

I agree with you but the fact is that two players from two different brands (Samsung and Iriver) - and may be others also - don't play such files.:(

I understand your point but there is already an option about album artwork support, so that could be a new related setting of this option. Indeed there is no need for a general option to remove certain tag fields.;)

Anyway thanks for your answer and congratulations for this great product.
