smartlist with ipod issues
« on: February 28, 2006, 04:04:03 am »

when I synch my ipod with MC 11.1.121 I am getting strange behaviours with the smartlists.

the recently played no longer gets updated as tracks are played by the ipod and play counts aren't incrimenting like i would anticipate them to.

I am synching with a 40gb ipod w/ click wheel. non-photo.

any ideas?

sorry I didn't explain correctly.

the playlist on the ipod doesn't update. I play a song and the playlist/smartlist "recently played" remains the same.

a friend of mine has the same ipod that he synchs with itunes and the playlsit updates on the ipod.

hrmm.

The ipod and iTunes has a feature known as dynamic playlists that the iPod will update itself on the iPod.  MC has smartlists, which only function on the computer, not the ipod.  If you synch an iPod with a MC smartlist, it is transfered to the iPod is a static playlist, not a smartlist.

MC does not support iPod dynamic playlists (yet?).

in that case I would be assuming that possibly the itunes code that makes this feature available on the ipod would be proprietry code. maybe not. none-the-less my question answered, thanks. :)

although.........it would be kewl though ;)
