Sample Rate library field
« on: March 13, 2006, 06:07:06 pm »

I posted this question in this thread but I think it deserves a new topic so I'll repeat it here.

Of the approximately 20,000 audio files (Ogg, MP3, and M4A) in my library, the [Sample Rate] field shows up blank for about half of them and displays a value for the rest of them.  Why is this?

On the files with no Sample Rate, executing "update library from tags" has no effect - I was hoping it might fill in that field based on the characteristics of the file, but no.

MC may only know this value for audio files it can play through its own audio engine. (MP3, OGG, WAV, APE, MPC, WMA, etc.)

Installing DirectShow filters for files that MC couldn't analyze a sample rate for (only M4A from the list you posted) might help.
