I cant see the bottom files list at all. There's no option for it when in tiles view.

Also, in panes view the "Options" menu in the menu bar has no options inside it. It just says "n/a".

To show files, click the "Files" link that's available on every tile.  Or double-click at the last level.

I think this is a bug.

1.  In audio, select the Genre, Artist or Album view (anything except panes)
2.  Open a second split view
3.  The split view will appear with the same settings as the original view (Artist view for example)

Now, when you change the options in one view, it affects both of them.  If you try to show thumbnails in the original view, thumbnails will show up in the second view as well.

If they type of view is different (Artist at the top, album at the bottom) then the options work independently.  But if they are the same, the options affect both views.

Micah

This is by design -- options aren't specific to each split in the split view.

Please make the show files stick... When you select another item, it remoes the files from bottom... It was so much better last build!

I understand, that you can have different sizes thumbnail for every view entry... How do you change the size globally? Looks like I have to change the thumbnail size on every view?

I all my views in the audio scheme which were details on top and thumbs on bottom are now coming up all details. So now i have to first change details to thumbs so i can access the files options which then starts up in thumbs in both views and then i have to click the top view to get just it back to details and now i am back to my original view.

 ? ? ?

I we're gonna have to click to show the files each time then please at least put a "Files" toggle icon on the top toolbar, or a link called "files" next to "play" and "view" on the tiles.

Use bigger tiles or smaller view schemes.  You only see "View" (instead of "Artist", "Files", etc.) when there isn't enough room for single click items.

This is not handy. I would like the option back as it was.

Add me to the list that liked it the way it was before. When I click on the Audio name in the tree, I liked it where I could see the library at the top and the details of ALL my files at the bottom. The only way to do that now is to select all. It was much clearer before when there was an option to display the details at the bottom and then you could start clicking on the tiles.

Needless to say, add me to the chorus.

"Show files" is allright for one selection, but how about if you want to see the files list for a whole genre. I've been using MC for years and I couldnt figure it out this morning.

Yes, I think the way it was in 11.1.152 was very good! Now you can only see the bottom thumbnails at the very end and not right away from the beginning! And it has been like that in MC for many years!

This was the mockup I presented in September:

My most used view scheme shows over 2200 albums side by side. My original idea was to be able to click any of the album thumbnails and see the album files in detail view immediately. The dream came true and I have been happy with the new system. Now I think that is slowly vanishing.

There is added wasted space in the middle of the screen. Actually I was never happy with the wasted space on the top either, but I didn't complain. (In my opinion the controls could be very small and placed where the now redundant media mode buttons are.)

The splitter cannot close and open the bottom view anymore.

After a view change the bottom view is hidden by default and it is awkward to make it visible again.

Just updated to 153, and wanted to say how happy I am with the new view system - both the double clicking and the files only appearing at the end. I've always wished MC would work like that, and now it does!  :)

Two problems to report:

Problem 1)
I never ever need to see the header section of a playlist (the area with the giant playlist icon, playlist name, and "play" button"). Thus, I minimize it using the pane splitter. But if I visit anywhere else and return, it will expand and display itself again. This is bad behavior in comparison to the "Playing Now" list, which respects and remembers the fact that I have minimized the visualization area too, because I never need to see that either.

Recommendation 1a)
Please have all the views remember the size of their header.

Recommendation 2a)
Please add a check box to the customize views dialog to "display header area". This could be checked on by default, but unchecking it would remove that whole head pane, thus leaving me with just what I want to see and eliminating that extra splitter bar I'm always left with, which is really annoying when I'm showing 2 or 3 views!

Problem 2)
When I'm in a playlist and want to set the sort order, the Sequence column does not appear in the list of columns to add. However, in it's default state, "Seq (A-Z)" shows up in the Sorting list for a playlist.

Recommendation 2)
Please add Sequence to the Add choice list of sortable columns.

Now I understand what all the fuss is about with the .153 views.  At the bottom of the stack, when it goes into an additional split view that can't be removed, is just wrong.  If you have 3 views and one of them splits again, into a sixth, you can't see anything.  Your thumbs work great, why are you going away from it with the split splits?  Formely, if I wanted to see the details, I could just scroll down.  This disables a good deal of functionality.

Alright, I can see what the goal is here, potentially.  But I think the split splits need to have more going for them to be useful.

Say, for example, the thumbs in this view automatically expand from stacks to all thumbs, which you can scroll down through and browse.  Selecting a thumb takes the details view immediately to that listing, and vice-versa.  That would be a very speedy and handy way to use this, if it's possible.
