Is it possible some how to have, for example all my media on an external hard drive, and the MC library on the same harddrive so that it was updated no matter where i played my files (as opposed to having two unsynchronised libraries on two separate computers that point to the files on the external hard drive) wiithout having to install an OS on the external drive?

MC can load libraries from various locations (one library at a time). You can make a new cloned library to a specified location with Library Manager. Problem solved, I think...

In case you like to change the drive letter(s) and/or base path(s) that is also possible but needs a bit more work (It can be done with the Find and Replace tool).
