CD ripping problem in 11.1.172
« on: April 28, 2006, 05:37:01 am »

i was ripping CD's fine last night and i wanted to rip more files at once, so i changed the CD ripping options to Maximum concurrent ripping processes to 3 at a time instead of just 1 and changed the speed to 4X and pressed ok.

the next time i rip a CD, it Rip's all the files at once at 10x speed! on top of that it said it had a problem with saving the files or something, when i check the folder there was no mp3's there. i go back to options to change it back, but it won't, i tried setting it back to defaults but it still won't go back so i had to use another program to rip the CD's instead, but i was wondering how would i get rid of this problem?

I think several concurrent ripping processes are useful only if you are going to rip with more than one drive at the same time.

I don't know what happened in your case, but you can reset all option changes to default by uninstalling MC with the "Remove all Media Center 11 registry entries" option ticked.

Make a library backup > uninstall MC > install the latest build from this forum (currently 11.1.178).

I just did a spyware scan and found a lot of spyware on the computer for some reason.  I restarted but still have the problem.  I am going to do a clean install and upgrade and see if that sorts out the problem.

How many CD drives are you ripping from simultaneously, all three? There have been quite a few bug fixes in simultaneous CD rip handling since build 172, so I would recommend updating to the current one (178) and try again. Please let us know how it comes out.

Unfortunately, many CD drives do not respect the read speed command that MC sends to the drive, so it may still read at a higher speed even if you select 4X.

I assume you did not select the "CUE" file option which will cause all tracks for a disc to be written to a single music file plus a separate CUE file. This is for advanced users who know how to manipulate these large files. There have been several bug fixes in CUE file handling as well since build 172.

well at first i throght that the option was how many audio files you can rip at a time, not how many drives you can use at a time. so that was my mistake :S.
