Blue Screen and Another Question
« on: September 17, 2002, 08:08:46 pm »

Hello,

Sometimes (not every time, but often), MJ quits right after start, the 'Blue Screen' appears, saying:

A fatal exception 0E occured at 0028:C14B74D in VXD APIX(01)|PLS|0000269D

Usually, I can restart MJ without problems afterwards.

Is this correctable?

And another question:

In the Download Manager, menu File > Import List File still does not work, at least, on my computer. What's the problem?

Here is my system infor:

Media Jukebox PLUS 8.0.372
Install Path: C:\Program Files\J River\Media Jukebox\

CPU: Intel Celeron 465 MHz MMX
Memory: Total - 129 MB, Free - 32 MB
OS: Microsoft Windows 98 SE

Internet Explorer: 6.0.2600.0000
ComCtl32.dll: 5.50.4704.1100
Shlwapi.dll: 6.00.2600.0000
Shell32.dll: 4.72.3812.600
wnaspi32.dll: 4.60 (1021) , ASPI for Win32 (95/NT) DLL, Copyright © 1989-1999 Adaptec, Inc.
Aspi32.sys: N/A

Thank you,

S:)

@Serge:

Could you please post, which VXD was crashing? This will help quite much.
Maybe even post the whole blue screen (you did dump the bluescreen, didn't you? If you don't please use drwatsn32 to set this and locate the file; you should find quite many informations in this dumpfile, which will help solving the problem).

Hmmm . . . I thought this APIX(01)|PLS|0000269D is about a VXD which is crashing . . . apparently not.

Well, I'll call Dr. Watson and will wait for the next blue screen.

Thanks for reply,

S:)

To Mirko:

Thanks. The problem is, it seems I do have the latest version of software for the W'98.

To King:

Is it THAT bad? I mean, is XP THAT good? The problem in question is one of the few I have on my 4-years old but well-maintained HP Pavilion. Would XP run on it? Based on previous experience, I'm reluctant to upgrade because I have a lot peripheral devices connected to my PC. All the compatibility issues, you know . . .

Serge,
I agree about upgrading, especially if the hardware is a little older.  Sometimes it happens in an hour.  Sometimes it takes a day.

XP is very good.  Much more stable than 98.  Win2000 is also as stable as XP.

Thanks, guys.

I'll make some research, and probably will upgrade to XP. If my old Hewlett-Packard will take it.

So, with XP that scary Blue Screen will be no longer, is this correct?
