Transferring settings between 2 machines.
« on: May 17, 2006, 06:12:12 pm »

I'm going to install MC on another PC and I'm wondering if there's a quick way to transfer settings, as I think theer's been quite a lot of settings-tweaking on my machine. Suggestions wouldbe appreciated, thanks.

Yep, it's easy.  Simply use Regedit and export the contents of this key to a file:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\JRiver

Then copy this file over to the "new" machine and double click it.  This will apply the VAST majority of MC's settings to the new copy.  The registration is machine-specific and will need to be done again manually.  Also, make sure not to also try to copy over the contents of the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\JRiver key.  This key appears to contain the registration data, but as I said, that is machine-specific and copying it over will break the new install.
