Audio files that were analyzed in older releases of MC do not show certain fields: Sample Rate, Compression (encoding type), Bits, Channels. These fields are not populated even after re-analyzing files.

Analyzer does not import those values if they are missing for some reason. Update the library from tags. This does not work with all file formats, but at least MP3, WMA, APE and MPC should work.

For some reason Ogg Vorbis does not show the compression info (... anymore? I think this is actually a bug that has appeared recently).

Select the files > right-click > Library Tools > Update Library (from tags)

Try a few files first. You could also make a library backup before starting. (File > Library > Backup Library)

Seems to work. This is a bug in Analyze Audio, however.

Analyze Audio isn't supposed to do that. It only analyzes it for Replay Gain, BPM, Peak Level, and Intensity. Basically all the stuff that has to be determined by actually... analyzing the actual audio data, rather than just looking at the file headers.

So there was some misunderstanding on my side. I thought all “technical” tags were the same, as I display all of them together. There are two types of “technical” tags, instead.
1) Tags derived from Analyze Audio, computed by MC (they are “subjective”, that is they depend on the analysis algorithm)
2) Tags extracted from the audio file header (they are “objective”)

There should be an option in Analyze Audio, however, to update the second type  of tags (“objective”) too, by reading them (and only them) from the audio file after analyzing it.
