Automated Tag-Fixing plug-in?
« on: May 09, 2006, 04:04:08 pm »

I was wondering if anyone knows of any existing plug-ins that go through all of your tracks and smartly correct spelling and naming errors.

Although not a plugin within MC, Musicbrainz.org has an external tagger which will correct errors with tagged MP3 and FLAC files (no APE support).  Download the "tagger" version and not the "Picard" version.   Both are free.

The tagger will scan the files and uses a music signature process to compare the music file to known signatures. It can fix files where most of the tag is incorrect (e.g., wrong artist, missing data) You still have to pay attention to what it is doing since it is not always correct (i.e., do in batches), so it can take a bit of time but it is still far quicker than doing it manually.

What is the different between "Picard" and "Tagger".
