Things that bug me about MC's various sliders.
« on: June 29, 2006, 09:00:08 pm »

When clicking on the slider, the thumbnails should not continue to change  size.  Try attempting to change the slider with the mouse, then not moving the mouse AT ALL, but continuing to click.  What happens?  The thumbnail size continues to change.  This is bad, as it is not what I nore would think any other user expect to happen, and reduces the precision of the tool.

The second thing is how the actual thumbnails visually change on the screen.  The location of the thumbnails change, and is very disconcerting to the eyes.  Rather the thumbnails should look like those sponge dinosuars that grow magically yet stay in the exact same position.

As of right now the tool is a great idea but rather clunky, and as such I don't use it as much as I would like to.

I am now realising the same inprecisness in the volume slider.  I never cared I guess, simply because the volume change was not as obvious as when you are trying to get thumnails to an exact fit perfectly on your screen.

The best and easiest way to do this, is still with the customise current view.

Looking at the new prgress slider is confusing.  When the mouse is far ahead of the progress bar, and then I click, the progress bar is NOT updated to where the mouse pointer exists, but rather the green bar which is confusing and I'm not sure how it is usefull.

When I click ahead of the progress bar, the ribbon jumps there and the green button appears as well. I like having something besides the blunt end of the ribbon to grab.
A useful addition would be to allow direct input of a time to jump to. I'm really bad at getting to 27:43 of a movie for instance. But I could type that accurately 8 of 10 times I bet.
