library server with aac files
« on: May 11, 2006, 01:19:42 pm »

Hello all,

I cannot seem to stream m4a files using library server. The client always resorts to quicktime, even though it can play m4a files from a local library. Is directshow supported using library server?

Most likely the one or more DirectShow filters can not handle streaming source.

apparantly (and using build 188) sometimes the files get streamed, but sometimes not. (and this happens in the same playlist.)

The error is always the one about quicktime not handling files >64 chars, even though I have ffdshow installed and  can play back aac files on both machines.

It would be good if there were a way to tell MC to only use directshow for playback of supported codecs...

If you stream a file from library server to a MC client, where in fact is the file rendered? on the server or on the client? (I mean, on which of the 2 machines is the file decoded for playback)
