duplicate files in MC
« on: July 07, 2006, 03:01:45 pm »

Recent happening with double entries of music files in Library. Not sure when this happened. Almost, but not all , are duplicated. There 4450 files to straighten out. Sure don't want to do it one page at a time.  Is there a cleam up function that will safely remove the extra entry? thank you

I have MC -10

I had this happen to me, i just re-imported from a clean list.

the only problem with that was the loss of the play-lists, but if you saved your play-lists it may be able to restore them after you import and be back where you left off.

a few other users had this happen to them also, i am not sure if any more recent versions have fixed this.

Thanks KingSparta.  Do you mean one would delete the current library. Then re-import again.  Then the new library would have single entries  (as it once was)?

Have you any idea what caused it? I don't think it was this human's error.  :D

Yes, there maybe better ways but if you delete one of them you may end-up deleting the file it's self and the other file will have a broken link to the file, that you just deleted (this is if the file names are the same).

I think (not for sure) when i would sometimes import MC11.1 would crash.

the crash was most likely due to i have allot of files in a library (one of mine has 160,000 files in it), and i always run into files that are sometimes corrupt.

if you have had a crash when importing it maybe because of this.
