I did it all by myself!
« on: September 14, 2002, 05:00:54 am »

I went to hp homepage and downloaded their latest drivers for my hpcd writer 8200 plus. Tried ripping a cd and IT WORKED.

Strange though when I try to play a cda cd in digital format all I get is static.

Maybe it's trying to play a data track as a music track?  Have you tried skipping to track 2 (and seeing if it actually plays track 1)?

Skipping to track 2 does no good as does disabling digital playback. when digital playback is disabled it still appears to play the cd but I get no sound whatsoever. In digital playback I get only static.

When I go into my audio mixer volume control and unselect the wave out I get complete silence again.

I'm glad you got it ripping ok. I was stumped as to what the problem was, and now I'm stumped as to why it rips ok digitally, but won't play ok, since the ripper and player share the same computer code. Do you get complete static (just noise) when it's playing, or do you get pieces of music with bursts of static now and then?

I get mostly static but once in a while some really faint music. Could it be WMP or Real player interfering with it. Also I have an audio mixer that plays cd's. WMP does play the cd while real player and my audio player also just appear to play the cd with static or no sound.

I uninstalled Real Jukebox and Winamp. Still nothing but static.
