Song ratings missing
zxsix:
Installed MC 12.0.53.
Chose not to uninstall MC 11.
Added my music folder to the library.
It imported all the songs.
First thing I notice is that the rating field is empty!
I tried update library from tags.
No change.
I pulled MC 11 back up. Ratings are showing.
I checked the library field options in MC 11 for "store in file tags" and that is checked for the rating field.
Next, I deleted a couple albums out of MC 12.
I then used windows explorer to drag/drop and import them back in. Still no ratings appear.
Ideas?
benn600:
What type of file format are you using?
I had a similar problem. I use a custom field called Ben's Rating to store my rating (and other's for my family ratings) so I can uniquely store all our ratings in every file... I found that if I do not check "Store in tags" BEFORE importing, they wouldn't import. Therefore, try creating a new library in MC 12. Then, open the options and find Rating. Make sure the store in tags option is selected. Then import.
Alex B:
Please check from the Action Window > File Properties > File Type Info in MC11.1 that the ratings really are in the physical file tags before importing the files to MC12.
If so, then it may be an MC12 bug that must be dealt.
In general, you could restore an MC11.1 library backup file in MC12 for getting all old data available easily (including view schemes, playlists, statistics, custom library fields and all field data that is not available in the file tags).
Naturally, it is important that people test the new import system too.
zxsix:
Hmm... In MC 11.1.90 here's what the file type info shows.
I don't see rating in there at all.
I double checked that in the library settings that the Rating field is set to store in tag if possible. I also highlighted this song and chose "update tags from library".
Here's what the file type info shows.
