library browser sorting....
« on: August 16, 2006, 08:17:26 pm »

I'm a little rusty on MC's current sorting logic...

When using library browser views, should the sorting rules for the browser view and the file list below be independant of each other?

At the moment, they're not, it causes some unexpected results and feels like a bug.

The only place I've found it useful (so far) is in my image 'calendar' viewscheme, because there, if you sort the top by newest first, and the bottom by oldest first, then filter the top down by years, then months, then days, you wind up with a list of that months photos, sorted newest first, but oldest first within each day, which is great.

everywhere else I've been with this though, is rather confusing to me.

also, is the 'always show files' option meant to be a global setting, as it is at the moment. I only want to use the always show option in a select few views. I can use 'show files' when I get there, but any refresh closes the file list....
