Toggle crossfade on album play
« on: August 10, 2006, 04:50:28 am »

I asked for this a couple of years ago - but with MC12 on the horizon, i thought i'd try again.....

When i'm playing stuff at random, or by genre then i like to crossfade the tracks. When i play an album i don't want the crossfade, i want it gapless.

At the moment i need to to toggle the play mode manually which is a particular pain for me as i run everything off a remote server and changing the play mode isn't part of NetRemote.

It seemed to me that MC could work out which play mode was needed by looking at the 2 tracks it is seguing between. If they have the same artist/album name and have consecutive tracks then we want gapless, anything else and we want crossfade.

Obviously this all has to be optional/configurable etc - but isn't the principle sound (and desirable)?

Thanks....

That's an excellent idea.  Xbox Media Center does something similar but it would be nice to have on MC as well.

I seem to remember asking for something during the beta cycle on 11.1, but I guess I was too late - lets hope we caught 12 in time ;-)
