Sync to zone (for each track change)?
« on: July 18, 2006, 09:01:30 pm »

I am testing out a Saitek Wireless speaker via my main PC using Direct Sound to the Saitek Device set as Zone 2. I can sync Zone1 to Zone 2 but when I change tracks Zone 2 simply continues playback of the first file I selected. Am I doing something wrong? I assumed syncing zones meant "inking" them semi-permanently...

thanks

A zone sync is a one-time thing.

If you need lock-stepped outputs, a hardware splitter is your best bet.

Thanks Matt. The Saitek is recognized as another soundcard but it uses an RF xmitter to send the feed to zone 2.

Would this be difficult for MC to implement? My old analog mixer used to have multiple hardware Zone outputs. Being able to use DirectSound with MC is nice because I don't clog up my Wave output for DVD's or ASIO for my music room.

thanks

have to admit, I was a little surprised by that the first I did it...

it would be handy to be able to lock the two zones. I can't really see why you'd want to sync them but then not care if they stay synched...

I agree.  I would think that most users would want the zones to stay sync'd until they explicitly decide to un-sync them.  This is certainly the case when I want to listen to a playlist throughout the house.

1) Is this fixable in MC?
2) Is there a release that this is targeted for?
3) If the answer to 1) or 2) is No, is there a workaround such as a multichannel sound card that can handle the syncing or or an external box smaller (and less expensive) than a Russound CAV66

Thanks

I am just about to start looking at Zones as well.  I agree that it would be useful to be able to lock zones so that they remain in sync.  Could this be a toggleable option?

I wanted to bump this and ask if there are any plans in MC12 to be able to lock the sync of two or more audio zones?

Thanks

I would really like to see the zones "locked" as well. I never understood why the synching was implemented as a one-time thing.
