New Mini View Should have ratings on it!
« on: August 24, 2006, 11:11:16 pm »

That would be so usefull.  plug in a playlist, and switch to mini view to easily rate as songs change.  Currently there is no easy way to do this unless you move to the full screen playing now.

I have to say this would be second on my wishlist for mini, after a hover-overable or right-clickable view of Playing Now.  Unkown ID's Paradigm Essence gets this right, IMO.

I vote for this request as well.
Yes, I realize that it can be accomplished with the playing now plugin, but would like it to be included via the standard mini view as well.

Mini view is cool.
Way cooler than it has been before.

For me, to complete it, it should have a collapsable expandable list of files in playing now (Just so that we can see what's coming next, or do very basic tagging), and the detached display window should be visible for if we want to play an image or video in mini view.

Combined with a "files launched externally always play in mini view" option, MC would become my defualt file browser. It would be as lean and fast as viewing files in wmp 9.

Or perhaps I am misinterpreting the intended use of mini view.

I always thought it would be nice to see a Winamp stlye component implemnetation.  Thats about the only thing I ever liked with Winamp.

You could twist the player, playing now, and library, in any possible way you wanted on the desktop.

It could be done for 12.1, in the sense that the standard full view could be the same for those who like it, and a component view could be added without pissing anyone else off.  I think a lot could actually be learned how the Winamp skin is so configurable, space wise.

Regarding mini-view perfection (currently within arm's reach, IMO):

--Mini view window remembers last size and position, including position on second monitor.

--OPTION for mini view always on top (option to sit next to OPTION for "make mini view transparent".

--Some sort of way to view and manually reorder playing now via mini view.

I think the new features for mini are really powerful--thanks, guys!

I agree.   Small buttons to toggle on/off a detached display, a PN, and a Library List (like Winamp), where each piece is "sticky" and match dimensions to the adjacent ones.  It is a very nice effect.

I'm liking this look already:

Windowed display view looks just like that, except there aren't two windows to manage.

View Menu > Display View > If maximized, click the restore button

The frame only goes away when in fullscreen.

It'd be nice if Slim had a close button on it. ;)

It's omitted by design.  Less is more in slim.

Slim has a poor memory for size and position.  That's just more trouble when you have to constantly repo.  Slim also needs to learn to stay always on top.

I realize it was omitted by design, but given that it can only go so small, I don't see how a close button would be taking up any valuable space.

It would be really nice to be able to set your Start View to mini view, and then just use that for those times when you don't need to use Standard View. It's also a little confusing given that all of the mini skins out there can support a way to exit MC without first going to Standard View (either through a close button or the right click menu), but you can't wth Slim.

Agree.  I would use a Close button more than "Continuous", "Shuffle" and "DSP", all of which get buttons in the "less is more" view.
