Playlist for Images
« on: September 26, 2006, 03:26:03 pm »

I start a playinging some songs and some images simultaneously.
I can always check the 'Songs Playlist'.
Sometimes I would like to know what Images are rotating: a 'Images Playlist'.
Is that available??
I can not find it!!

I don't think you can see the image list (other than to go back to the list where you started the images playing), but you can find out which image is currently displayed by Right Clicking on the Playing Now display --> Set Display --> Image.  The current image's name is displayed between Previous and Next in the pop-out.

The image caption might be helpful.  You can configure it to show anything you like.

Otherwise, playing images only will put the images in Playing Now.

You can also use zones to have as many independent playbacks running at once as you want.  It's probably overkill in this case.

I know how to check what is the current image playing.
But I cannot see what the total list of images is that is playing.
Also not in a different zone. Or can I?

I very much see that as an enhancement.

More people feel like that?

Yes, I think you can.  ;)

If the Zone 1 plays music and the Zone 2 only images then the images will play from Zone 2's Playing Now list instead of a hidden slideshow list.

Yes, that is a workaround. Now the new Display View is less powerfull.

Wouldn't be a strong feature to have a Playing Now for Images and Music (*) per zone??

(*) Or per Media Type

No.  I like to build playlists that switch back and forth between audio and video (and sometimes have a picture or two thrown in).  That would mess that all up.

I guess I don't see why, if you really really need to see your image playlist, using the existing Zones system is that much of a hardship.  I just tested it out and it works quite well.  You can have music going on Zone 1 (and even detach the display and have a visualizer open if you want), then switch to Zone 2 and start your Image slideshow going (and use that in full screen Display View or Detached View or whatever).  You still have full access to both Playing Now lists then...

It's not a hardship and it works quite well, especially when using detached view and 'always on top'.
I always look to these things from a intuitive point of view. For me this is a nice technical workaround, i can get used to. But it is not intuitive. To my opinion at least.
I always try to see a new release through the eyes of a newbe, who like to ask as little as possible questions to be able to use MC.

Cheers.

I agree completely.... So long as it doesn't disable functions which are otherwise useful.   ;)
