Raise volume by 20% on WMA file
« on: September 09, 2002, 10:49:44 pm »

I have about 50 carefully made WMA files(recorded at 64 kbps) of old vinyl recording. The vinyl originals are gone, never to return.

The volume is too low. How can I redo these files to increase the volume by about 20%.

Thanks in advance.

You have to decode that files to wav and then use a wav editor to increase the volume. i think that is the only way

If I were you, I would not decode them. You already encoded with quite few kbits, so decode and reencode would seriously decrease the quality.

Maybe you could manipulate the replay gain setting?

Yeah, use Media Jukebox's super cool "Replay Gain" feature -- it's designed to make all your music sound the same volume, without altering the original file.

Take care.
