OT - BUGS (insect variety)
« on: September 09, 2002, 05:08:14 pm »

From a thread many moons ago there was mention of Monarch butterflies....

Just happened to notice on the way in the house tonight that they are already starting to mass in the trees around here. I can bet that in the next few weeks there will be so many for my daughter to chase around with her butterfly net, that the game will wear her out.

Madamoiselle Butterfly.  Great picture!

There were 8 Monarchs on the Mexican Sunflowers in my garden tonight.

Here's a place to check for more on them: http://www.mbsf.org

JRiver has helped with a couple different Monarch programs for the last eight years.

Here's the other:

Last year Jesse Ventura visited JRiver to help send off 40,000 paper Monarch butterflies to Mexico.  They were made by kids all over the U.S.
