MJ on Pocket PC?
« on: September 09, 2002, 01:23:38 pm »

Anyone found a widget to allow control of MJ via a Pocket PC?

I currently use Web Remote which is pretty cool - but I crave more functions like the ability to queue tracks into playing  now from my pocket PC

I'm not a programmer so have to beg for other peoples' ingenuity!!

Go on... you know u want to... Couldn't you clever guys at JRiver make a sexy programme !!SEXY!!

Try NetRemote

Others have had success with Girder

Also look at Glissando  here

I don't have a PocketPC, but I sure would love one someday.

I would'nt mind hearing others experiences about wireless control of MJ.

Purpose of NetRemote vs. Media Server

I am very new to MJ.  I want some family members to be able to play my music files from their office during work hours.  They will not be able to install MJ on those PC's.

I set up my PC and router so they could connect using NetRemote across port 8080.  They are able to connect and see the files but no sound is heard.  The sound plays out of my PC when they control it.  Did I miss the point of NetRemote / WebRemote?  Is it mearly to remotely control the PC across TCP/IP?  If so, why would I want to do this?

Do they need to install MJ on the remote PC's and connect via Media Server in order for this to work?

Thanks,
David

if they want to play sound on their local pc then yes - install MJ on each pc (i think if you insdtall within x days, up tyo y home PCs are free of charge?), rub media server on the pc with music files and connect each pc to the server

hope that helps?
