Sluggish Response
« on: October 24, 2006, 09:04:34 pm »

I connected a NAS server, and built a library of music files within MC 12. It takes from 20 - 30 seconds for the stop or pause options to take effect. During this time MC is completely unresponsive.

I don't have this problem in version 11 or other media playback programs

Could you try a local file?

Also, switch the output type in Options > Playback.

Finally, check for new sound card drivers.

Pause should be a very cheap operation -- it should take essentially no time to take effect.

Thanks, MAtt! I copied all my files to the server from an external USB HDD (my local drive). Those files play just fine without any problems. I did try Output changes as you suggesssted, but to no avail. Since, both the external USB HDD, and the NAS server, work fine on MC 11, I thought maybe it might a problem native to MC 12. I I am using the Asus A8N-SLI motherboard with the Realtek ALC8S0 8-channel audio CODEC. I don't think this would cause the delay, but I will go to the Asus website and see what I can find.
